Frequently Asked Questions
Many of our customers hit the same pitfalls and problems when using our compiler, and here's an answer to the most commonly asked questions. It is strongly recommended to read through this section first before looking for support elsewhere.
Customer Downloads
If you are under our current service plan and have a valid reference number you can download the latest updates for our compiler. Also available are other files, such as datasheets and help files, that don't require a reference number but our customers may still need.
User Forums
We have setup a message forum set up for CCS C customers to exchange ideas and thoughts. Due to the intelligence and experience of the customers posting on this forum, this is a good place to go if you are having problems or need help.

Device Datasheets
These are included on the compiler CD-ROM or can be downloaded from Microchip's web site. Hard copies may also be obtained from local Microchip offices. The data sheets cover the details of how the PIC® MCU works, how to wire it up, and exactly how the special features in the chip work (like the timers and A/D converter). The built in functions of the compiler shelter most users from needing all these details however it will help to fully understand the part. The CCS Download Manager can be used to keep your local copy of the datasheets up to date.
