Vs. 3.249 came out on March 23, 2006. So for four months nothing
was released. Since then, one or both of my maintenance contracts
have run out for PCM and PCH. Are they going to extend them for
four more months, to make up for that "dead time" ?.

It's only available to people who signed up for beta. You can ask at any time to be added to the Beta.

I'm on the list for beta as well and waiting to be notified...

From the V4 preview it looks like a bunch of new stuff to check out!
I have a newly finished V3 project I'll port to V4 to see what happens.

Same here. I believe I received this error before when upgrading to a new rev that needed new cfg files.

Waiting in anticipation....

I have the same issue also. I have talked with tech support and they are working out a solution.

The downloader link has changed. You now download the new downloader without having to update it. I works pretty well.

I just downloaded the installer again, and the download utility is still doing exactly the same thing. "An Updated version is available" then floating point error.

And the download utility MUST be in the same directory as your 3.x install (or a subdirectory) AND you have to overwrite your pre-existing license files with the new ones before you can even get far enough for the thing to error out.

I refuse to overwrite my 3.x compiler with the 4 beta.

I'm on Windows XP Pro.

Did that already. Before I made my initial post.

Still doesn't change the fact that the download utility complains about needing an update and then errors out with "invalid floating point operation".

What version of Windows do you have?

CCS v4 doesn't seem to install into MPLAB properly. Anyone else had this problem?

When trying to install the Download Manager under Win98 it complains about a missing GDIPLUS.DLL and, of course, I therefore cannot install the compiler.

Under XP everything seems to install with no problems. However, when running the Code Format utility it hangs and I have to abort and restart the entire program... need to check to see if this is one of the items that isn't supposed to work yet..:-)
