Cable assembly to go from .1mm header to ICD-2?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 06, 2004 11:12 am     Reply with quote

Does anyone know if there are cable assemblies sold that have on one end, RJ45 connector, and on the other end, a female receptacle that would connect onto the 5(or 6) pins on a board for ICSP?

I would like to buy a nice clean one, so I don't have to spend money on crimpers.

Thanks,
Mike

Do you really mean .1mm or do you mean .1 inch ?

See this post for an explanation of how I adapted the ICD2
cable to a .1 inch header receptacle. I did use a crimping tool
to attach the contacts for the Molex KK receptacle to 6 wires.
We have that tool because we use those connectors so much.
But any cheap multi-purpose crimper will do it, too.

Yeah, looks like i'll do something like what Mark mentioned through the weekend.

PCM's link will be helpful, especially since the Digikey part numbers are mentioned!

Melabs has an adapter that I have been using successfully with the ICD-U40. It is a small pcb (as mentioned above) with an RJ-11 and a 10 pin header. It comes with a 10 pin cable as well. You would have to put a header on you target board with the correct pin out. This is shown in the schematic for the lab x-1 proto board. It's $19.95.

I just use cut the end off the ICD cable and then put a different connector on there. Of course it does require a crimper but that is not a problem for me.
