Microchip ICD2 and 18f242

anybody had trouble programming the 18f242 with microchips ICD2.
It doesn't want to erase the part. The config bits are set properly.

any help would be greatly appreciated

What is your supply voltage to the PIC?

The 18F parts need VDD to be between 4.5v and 5.5V for bulk erase to work correctly. You can program the flash at lower voltages, but bulk erase needs 5V +/- 10% or it will fail.
