| Opinions: PIC32 with Ethernet support? |

Due to limitations in the ancient Wiznet ethernet I/O library, we are now considering pivoting away from our comfort zone (PIC24 + Wiznet) into a PIC32 that supports Ethernet.
MPLAB shows support for the protocols we need to use (SNMP, HTTPD, SMTP).

After using MPLAB this past year, I would prefer to stay within the CCS ecosystem. Even with the challenges, the support over here has been substantially better.
Has anyone ever ever implemented PIC32+Ethernet? The Wiznet I/O library is "functionally abandoned" and simply cannot do all the things we need to do in 2026.
Thanks for any opinions on this. _________________ Allen C. Huffman, Sub-Etha Software (est. 1990) http://www.subethasoftware.com

A while back ....probably 3+ years?.... CCS sent a questionnaire to (I'm guessing) most registered customers. At any rate, I received one and subsequently replied. One of the questions asked (and I'm paraphrasing) how likely you'd be interested in PIC32 support.
I have no idea if PIC32 support is a priority or not; if it is, how far down that path CCS has progressed....
You can always ask them. I feel the same about MPLAB as you seem to: use only if absolutely necessary. |
