I regret my comments.

I didn't mean to start a general CCS bashing.
I feel bad that I did. I like the compiler, and
use it almost everyday. Sometimes it has
problems with new features, but over time,
they usually fix all the problems. I just
wanted to clarify this.

I wouldn't call it "bashing". It's outpouring of grief.

Users here are simply stating their experience. Just because people have something negative to say doesn't mean the end of it all.

I use their compiler and I like it. It's just that CCS just need to pay a little bit of attention on their updated version before releasing it.

And they shouldn't release it purporting to be a non-beta version.

A lot of users are using their compiler at work and something is at stake.

If they haven't fully tested it then it should be known as such.

You said something negative? Did I miss something?

You're allowed to be negative as long as it's constructive.

I am, and I'm sure just about every one here in this forum, appreciate its existence. It's here where all of us with a common interest can find solutions to problems related to PIC and the CCS compiler.

Don't we feel lucky to have this forum, with people in the likes of PCM Programmer.

I appreciate PCM's help and assistance to everyone else on this board too. Also Neutone, Mark, RJ Hamlett (why don't you register?), Douglass Kennedy, John Cutler and anyone else I missed.

Ditto.

PCM Programmer,

I think you have every right to vent your frustrations. Why? Because you contribute positively too. It is fine to tell somebody they are wrong but you have to be able to back that up with good reasons. You do that.

Hey people, all those mentioned (especially Mark) have given me a lot of help in the past few years and more recently too, but none more so than Ttelmah! Lets not forget him!

I try to help people on this forum as well as asking lots of questions. I don't know how helpful my help is, but I try my best to give something back whenever I can. It brightens my day, and sat in a lab/office without any windows I need all the light I can get Laughing

Embarassed

Yes.

The reason why I made the apology post is because after I
replied to Guest about the beta function pointers, I noticed
that no one made any posts for several hours. It looked
like my negative comments had scared everyone away.
Then the next few posts were negative ones.
I looked at the screen, and I said "I have done this".
So that's why I made the post.

But now things are back to normal, so it's all OK.

Dear PCM Programmer,
with the risk to be similar to the other people, I would like to say that this forum can not be the same without your daily helps! When I started reading forum posts (about one year ago), the first excelent answers I noticed were yours, PCM Programmer.

Just few words: THANK YOU!

Wishes.

Paolo.

Regret
PostPosted: Mon Jan 19, 2004 5:29 pm     Reply with quote

I am like you, I use the compiler extensively and I have run afoul of some of the aggravating anomolies over the years.... You learn not to "push the envelope" with the compiler if you don't have to and everything generally goes with few hitches. A lesson still to be learned by some...

I don't know why (maybe Darren R. knows) CCS doesn't label the left hand download column as Beta version and the right column as latest final release. I have mentioned this to them numerous times (evne in two surveys) and seem to have been ignored... This would make things easier on them and everyone here.

I, like everyone else here singing your praises, appreciate your patience, input and efforts in making this board what it is(not to slight any of the other outstanding contributers to this board). Keep up the great work!

Best Regards,
Dave Y.
