Hi,
Thanks for all the info, which has more IC support, i.e. more off the shelf chips that can extend the functionallity of my project?

Things like dual RS232 Tx/Rx chip etc. so I can have two RS232 ports on one pic.

Thanks

Peripheral ICs

This is one you need to decide for yourself. There must be literally hundreds of peripheral devices that connect with these interfaces. Start with Philips for I2C parts, since they are the ones that developed that interface. Motorola developed the SPI interface. TI has ADC and DACs. Microchip has ADCs, memories, and more. Checkout Analog Devices, Fairchild, National Semi, and Ramtron also. I'm sure that others will add their favorite sources for peripherals.

Buy the way, you should review the #use RS232 section of the manual and help file. The compiler can create a soft UART for 1 or more addtional serial ports on a part.
