Anyone using CCS ide successfully?

IDE version 3.43
PCH version 2.202

Bought CCS IDE Version 3.43 and there icd. Having trouble,had to reprogram icd, the IDE is allways crashing,giving error measages and debugging just not working all the time. Is CCS' IDE worth the trouble or should I just use MPLAB with icd2? Will older version ICD help,or are these problems limited to my system? Losing patience, Paul

How long have you had your problems with the IDE?
Have you ever reported your problems to CCS?
Do you have a maintenance contract so as to keep in step with product developments?

I have been using CCS for the past 4 odd years. The IDE has never crashed. Yes, the compiler has had its share of bugs - which CCS is willing to fix ASAP - Before you carry on too much about the bugs, remember that XP requires 47 patches the first time you log onto Microsoft after installation. Then of course there are the security patches that sneak their way onto your computer automatically while you are connected to the internet.

Yes, serious. Having problems for about a week. I recently bought IDE. CCS very helpful in past with PCH. So far with IDE, CCS's help has been limited. What version of IDE are you using? Im new to C, I previously used asm.Have you found CCS better than MPLABs debug. CCS's debug does apear to show more. I will try IDE on other computers. Thanks for responding, Paul

I'm running Win98SE with ICD-S40 debugger unit.
I've PCWH IDE version 3.43 and compilers PCB,PCM,PCH 3.190
On the whole, I had no major problems while debugging my
projects on multiple PCB's.
I use both PIC16F877 and PIC18F452 and the ICD unit runs
just fine. Once I had few "Target chip could not be detected"
errors but they were caused by some bad contacts either on
ICD RJ45 headers or my PCB connectors.

I find the editor (except Find & Replace functions) of PCWH somehow
better than that of MPLAB IDE.
The built-in ICD debugger is a great asset to real development work
compared with MPLAB simulator.

I have PCWH and the CCS ICD running on both XP and 98SE. Just like the previous posts I have had an occasional "Target not found" message but opther than that mine has worked with no problems using the 16F and 18F chips. Re-initilziing has always corrected the Target not found problem for me. It has never caused any OS crashes and has consistantly worked better than MPLAB
