work shop compiler vs PCWHD
PostPosted: Tue Jul 04, 2023 2:51 am     Reply with quote

In work shop compiler the limitation is 13 chips. Additional chips can be purchased by paying 20 dollars.

I have the following doubts

1. Is the IDE used in work shop compiler and PCWHD are same?
2. All features in PCWHD are available in work shop compiler?
3. Projects written in PCD compiler v5.045 will work in this work shop compiler ?

I don't have the CCS workshop compiler - I've been a customer (on & off) for about 20 years and I've almost always used the full compiler. When I was teaching, the students did use the student version of the compiler which was available at the time, and it was exactly same as the full compiler version. The only difference was that it was limited to 2 processors (at the time). Everything else was the same.

1. Very likely exactly the same. It wouldn't make financial sense for CCS to create & maintain two different IDE versions.
2. From the information that I've read about the workshop compiler, yes.
3. Yes they should. That said, 5.045 is very very old. Depending if the workshop compiler is a true processor-limited version of the newest compiler or if it was officially "forked" some time ago, there may be issues. I wouldn't anticipate any major problems.
