surely you understand that by using a POT and battery -
part of the heat comes from reverse current flow in the "off" state Mosfet protective diodes - on each half cycle -- and as to the rest ??
You are operating the mosfets in a quasi linear, steady state conduction mode!!!!
leaving the pot set for about half brightness is going to do a real bad number on the mosfets given enough time.

OUCH---

OF COURSE they are going to get WARM - or even much hotter than just WARM - depending on the setting .

are you getting your circuit comprehension "On the fly" ?????????
