PCW on Win11 with ICD-U80
PostPosted: Mon Jan 12, 2026 5:38 pm     Reply with quote

I needed to change to a newer computer to accommodate Win 11.

For some reason, when using PCW, it will not attempt to program a part. It's like it doesn't know that the ICD-U80 exists. If I look at devices I see the it is listed. It also shows in ICD Load. The message I get from PCW is "Program target chip. The programming tool can be manually selected. Press F1 for more help." This is after pressing the button you normally use to program.

I have downloaded and installed the newest drivers from the CCS website.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't run base PCW, but I do run PCWHD on Windows 11 with ICD-U80 and I do not get those problems. So my first thought is to try installing everything to a non admin locked location incase there is a permissions issue.

Aside from that, you may hit up CCS support to see if they have any diagnostics they can suggest. You either have to email or call them (I have better luck calling).

Thank you. I was able to resolve it with the email help from the CCS folks. The biggest issue was mismatch in the paths which was resolved by resetting them.
