can-pic24 deprecated

I have an old project using the can-pic24 driver which I notice is deprecated.
I do not see a reason either in this driver or the suggested newer driver.

Does anyone know why the can-pic24 driver is deprecated?
Should I be looking to move the project (which has been working fine) to the newer driver?

The newer driver adds more support for the ecan peripheral.
At the end of the day, archive what you currently have, and try the newer
driver. If the change causes problems, switch back to the known working
code. Very Happy
