ICD don't work at 1.8V
PostPosted: Mon Jun 22, 2009 5:12 pm     Reply with quote

Need help.. I'm working on a PIC18F45K20 at 1.8V and my ICD cannot recognize the device at that voltage. Are the ICD-U40 designed to work at that voltage? I can get it to work at 2.02V, but I can't be developing at that voltage.

Thanks,

This news release for the ICD-U40 lists the lowest voltage as 2.0 volts
for the Rev. 5 unit:

What's the revision level of your ICD ?

The Microchip ICD2 is also specified at 2.0 volts minimum:

You previously got an answer here from FvM (same as my answer).
I don't know if you saw it:

My suggestion is to build a version of your board that runs at 2.0 volts
and debug it. In other words, install a 2.0 volt regulator, and use IC's
that will run at 2.0 volts, in order to complete your development.
Then ship the final product at 1.8 volts (after testing).

Thanks for the info. My ICD is a REV. 5. So is there a ICD that can work at 1.8V?
