Oscillators and Timers
PostPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:38 am     Reply with quote

I am fairly new to pics and to date have only used the internal oscillator for system clock. I want to start using timers and external crystals but I only know very little when it comes to this.

Does anyone have any links or helpful advice to lead me in the right direction?

I have done a search in the forums but all I have found is about setting different features up. I want to know why now, then how later.

Thanks

Timer capabilities depend on the chip family you are using, high range PICs like the PIC24 have more options than a low range PIC16 model.

Have a look at the Microchip Reference Manual web page. At the bottom of this page you will find reference documents for Timer0, Timer1, Timer2 and the Watchdog timer.
