corrupt? project?
PostPosted: Mon Aug 27, 2007 5:00 am     Reply with quote

Hello,
I have code that is quite stable.(2 years old). Recently it doesn't operate properly. I'm thinking I have a corrupt project/workspace in MPLAB. Can anyone shed some light on how this happens and what can be done to prevent and/or detect this condition. I'm using the latest version of PCH and MPLAB 7.61.

Would the full version of CCS with the IDE be more reliable?
Is it possible to use microchips programming tools without using MPLAB?

Thanks for your insight.

I think you asked this two weeks ago, and it was answered:

Go back to a version of MPLAB that doesn't crash.

You installed MPLAB vs. 7.41 and it still crashes ?
That verson of MPLAB occassionally crashes for me, but not very often.
When it does crash, it typically occurs when I close MPLAB. It gives me
a GPF at that time. I think it has something to do with the state of the
ICD2's USB "connection" to MPLAB. I don't think I've seen vs. 7.41
crash while compiling with CCS.

I don't know what else to tell you.

thanks for your help. I'm going to try going back to V 5.4. The microchip forum gave me a couple of hits that 5.4 was very stable. Thing is I am not sure that is my problem!!! I'm trying to formulate an answer when I don't have the question.

I think you mean vs. 5.70.40. That version is stable, and can co-exist
with vs. 7.xx on your system. But the older version doesn't have
colored C syntax, and it doesn't have support for any of the new chips.
I don't even know if it supports ICD2. We just use it with PicStart-Plus
with our older products.
