I inadvertently code protected this device. I have erased the device a number of times but the code protection bit still comes up as being illigal.

Is there a way to revive the chip.

You can try to expose the chip for more than a day (use a fan if your UV lamp dissipates too much power).
In 1999 I did it with 4 pcs 16C74JW (well, the result was 75\% Smile : 3 out of 4 deleted successfully )
