ICD-U40.exe shows only COM port3
PostPosted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 3:41 am     Reply with quote

Hi all!

I'm using PCWH compiler v3.235 to program and debug my 18F4550 PIC board. While i am able to burn the program using the debug mode, but when i try to burn it using icd-u40.exe it only shows a com3 port and no usb ports.

I get the error message: "Could not connect: No response from icd, check connection and power to ICD".

Is this because i'm using windows XP?

Some solution please.......

Unplug the USB and RePlug it in. It may have lost the USB connection.

Xp works fine.

Inside the ICD-U40 is a FTDI chip. It does the USB to serial conversion.

Are you using any of these chips.

Can you go into the device manager a find the PID and VID under the USB/ICD-U40/properties/details?

VID=0461
PID=0020

I dont think that its a problem of usb connection, its just that it has never worked independently (i.e; the icd.exe)
