can bus collision
PostPosted: Fri Jul 15, 2005 8:40 am     Reply with quote

Hi i am using a Controller with can which controls two clients over can bus. Its very simple: the Controller sends a command to put on the client's leds.the clients confirm the message by sending a confirmation. when using one client only, everything works fine. but using the two at same time, both receive the can-message from the controller, but the controller only receives one confirmation. what could be the problem here? is it a collision becaus they both send at the same time?
thanks...

If there is a collision, the node should still automatically attempt
to retransmit the message.

Just a thought; You should recieve two messages proving each node sends back a different identifier.
If the two nodes are sending back the same identifier they will both think they have suceesfully negotiated a message transmission - but only one has acctually been placed on the can bus.
