IPOD Shuffle
PostPosted: Mon Mar 28, 2005 4:58 pm     Reply with quote

I want to start/stop the IPOD shuffle through the USB port with my PIC micro. Google searches give me way to many hits and not enough relevent info. Does anyone know of a IPOD hacker site where they may have done this already? I would need the USB protocol and commands.

FYI, You would have to implement a USB host controller with a PIC. All of the examples that you will probably find have the PIC as a device and not a host.

For that matter, i don't think a PIC can even be a Host (or can it?). Doesn't one have to upgrade to something like an ARM7 to be able to be a USB host?

It is possible with a microcontroller. Cypress makes this:
