it's a superset of the DS1287. do a search on that.

The DS1287 is a RTC, the DS1961S is a SHA-1 engine? Did I miss something?

errrrrrrrr. ooops. i read it as "DS1691" and i thought to myself, "i know that part".

anyway, my error.

to make it up to you, i noticed from the DS1961S datasheet that it is a onewire device. i have posted a set of onewire primitives here:

using my onewire primitives you should be able to at least read the device ID and serial number. implementation of the SHA-specific pieces is left as an exercise to the reader... Smile
