CCS IDE Requires Administrator Rights in Windows XP ?
PostPosted: Tue Feb 03, 2004 6:21 pm     Reply with quote

I am using the CCS IDE to teach students all about PIC's. I installed the complier on a windows XP machine and can compile perfect when I am looged in with admin rights. The story changes for user access, the complier goes through its steps, generates the .HEX file then gives a "Interal Error" in red at the bottom of the window. Anybody else experiance this or have a fix ? I need to restrict the access to the computers for students using them and can't have let them have admin rights. Evil or Very Mad

The solution is to give the user write access to the directory 'C:\'. Aparently the pcw.exe creates a file 'debug.txt' at that location. As to why I dont know.

I believe that the latest release has a fix for this.
