PIC24 and eSIM interfacing
PostPosted: Tue Sep 28, 2021 12:35 pm     Reply with quote

Hello!

Anyone of you guys ever interfaced an eSIM such as the ST4SIM-200M to a PIC24 MCU? Or any other type of eSIM interfaced to a PIC24 MCU?

Any pointers are appreciated!

Thanks!

The sim would normally connect to the modem you are using, not to the
PIC. What modem do you intend to use?.

Oh yes! You are correct! It ties to the modem, not the PIC, the eSIM IC is a pin to pin replacement with a SIM card.

Modem is a SIMCOM SIM7600A.

Talking to a colleague just now about this and I think I understand how it works. So basically, for the sake of the explanation, it you have an iWatch and an iPhone, I guess you probably have to pair both over BT or something, then you get your carrier to activate the eSIM portion through the phone and somehow, the phone talks to the watch and provisions the watch with the phone's SIM information.

In my case, I want to have a "circuit" with an eSIM IC and load the profile from an existing SIM onto this eSIM... I think that's how it works, correct? Then how do both talk to accomplish this?

A bit off-CCS topic but there will be a PIC24 involved with the CCS compiler!

Thanks!

Ben
