Mach x programmer with older compiler versions
PostPosted: Thu Feb 18, 2021 9:05 am     Reply with quote

Hi all, I have just found a hard drive with my old compiler on, the versions are:

PCB version 3.210
PCM version 3.210
PCH version 3.212

Will the Mach X programmer work with these older versions, I would presume so, but just want to check before buying.

Thanks

The only issue might be if the current firmware is not 'reverse compatible'.
However you could just install the latest version of CCSload, which will
then upgrade the support (the compiler actually 'uses' CCSload as the
interface to talk to the programmer).

All I KNOW for sure is that MPALB v8.92( last one...) and a PICkit3 should work fine.....
Heck, being that old, a PICStart+ might even work !!! I have 2 from Microchip that were free.....long,long time ago.....

Thanks for your replies.
It has been 20 years since I last did any of this Shocked
It is amazing how much I have forgotten, or never knew! Laughing

I have downloaded the new version of CCS load and installed it.
So next step is to buy Mach X and presumably install drivers. So having done this CCSLoad will be available under "Tools" in the Compiler ?

Cheers

Given how old your compiler is, CCSLoad might not be available through its interface or it might not play nicely with the new CCSLoad. The present compilers have a "Tools" menu, and CCSLoad can be invoked from that. If your version lacks a way to invoke the current CCSLoad, just create a shortcut to CCSLoad and double-click to invoke it, then navigate to your hex file and you're golden. As you recompile and the hex changes, CCSLoad will automatically recognize the change and reload it.
