Also note that you should probably not drive inputs if they are being driven by an outside source. You cold potentially damage something over time.

This is where we often have the thing to 'check' with a meter if the pins
are floating or driven one way, and make sure to only drive the same
way or not drive pins that may be driven by an external circuit.
