Code to break 4 digit number into its 4 digits?

Does anyone have an easy way to break a four digit number into its respective digits?

example:

convert a variable: value=1234

into four variables:
lsd = 4
lsd_1 = 3
lsd_2 = 2
msd = 1

Search a little bit on the forum. This sort of thing was just discussed.

Key things are the modulus operator.
