problem using build all
PostPosted: Thu Feb 12, 2004 12:53 pm     Reply with quote

Hello all,
I just downloaded MPLAB IDE Ver 6.40.00.0 and using ICD2 to program PIC16F874A. I am using PCM version 3.178 . I am able to compile the project sucessfully each time. After compiling I use "build all" option to build the project. I always get this message:
"the format of the file *.cof cannot be read or written because the format was not recognized" . I tried reading the .hex file but I get the same message "the format of the file *.hex cannot be read or written because the format was not recognized".

Please advice

I don't know if I've seen that exact COF file error.

I gotten a COF file error, due to having "too many"
printf statements. I got it again, just today.
Easy solution: Remove printf's until it goes away.
Real solution: Unknown

Do a search on this forum for COF, and you'll
see several posts on COF errors.

Also search the Microchip forum.

Set the Time Filter for "All Topics" and
have it "Search All Forums" for COF.
