did this work in Proteus simulation
but not when you built it with real parts?

Why do you use the obsolete 18F458 PIC?

what is the ultimate goal for your project?

to understand your problem better -
can you post your schematic?

actually this is not quite correct- the Lm393 is a kind of analog circuit similar to an op amp and which can be used as a very crude sort of op amp but is in fact a COMPARATOR. When used as an op amp it can tend to be quite unstable at low closed loop gains and should never be used as such

many op amps can function as comparators and vice versa
but neither does the job of the other nearly as well.
