A line that isn't actually being driven, when you think it should be.

The kicker was when I pulled out my multimeter to probe the line. Code is hanging, and it's stuck in a while (input(THAT_LINE));.

Touch it with my multimeter leads, and it gets past that line. ???? Try it again, hangs, touch with probes, progresses. ????

That started the odyssey.

It didn't help that earlier in the week I found that my installation of the compiler got corrupted. I was questioning everything.
