Program MCP250XX
PostPosted: Sat Jan 30, 2010 8:54 am     Reply with quote

I am using the schematics of FAQ "How do you program the MCP25050 chip..."
http://www.ccsinfo.com/faq.php?page=mcp250xx
Here ICD connector 4 (DATA) goes to Pin 8 and ICD connector 5
(CLOCK) goes to Pin 9 on the MCP25050.

According to the notes of Microchip "Programming Specifications"
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/20072b.pdf
"The Programming mode is entered by raising the RST
pin from Vil (Parameter PD8) to Vihh (Parameter PD4).
Then while holding the CLOCK and DATA pins (GP5 and GP4)
low, raising VDD."

(GP5 and GP4 are Pin 5 & 6 )
Is this not an error?

Thanks

yes its an error, that has been there for years.

as an aside, I have given up trying to program those devices after wasting many.

I hope you understand that they are OTP ( One Time Programmable) devices, so if you get it wrong, throw them away

Mike
