Hi GĂ©rard,
Read the threads above. The problem is not with the CCS compiler or MPLAB X, it's with the CCS plug-in.
You have to un-install the plug-in currently installed, and install manually the new version 3.14.

Mplab X 5.50 does not work with ccs 5.10x
PostPosted: Sun Aug 29, 2021 6:43 am     Reply with quote

I will share what I figured out:
It is NOT the plugin that is the problem.
From CCS Website:
MPLAB X IDE Plug-in dated 23-May-16
This shows up under MPLAB x V5.xxx as
Version: 3.13 Source: Microchip Third Party Plugins
It works with MPLAB X V5.10, 5.45, but not V5.50
The problem lies in the makefile not being generated properly in MPLAB X v5.50

It is generate correctly in MPLAB X v5.10 & 5.45
I am using CCS C Compiler v5.105 (I tried other version as well, same result)

It is either an interaction between the plugin and MPLAB X V5.50, or it is MPLAB X v5.50 that does not generate the makefile correctly.

I will ask CCS for the newer plugin, and try.

Regards

That makes sense.
The latest plugin is included with the compiler when you do the install.
Just checked, and only 5.105 has the newer plugin.

Odd. My 5.105 does not have the newer version of the plug-in.

Did you specify for the install to include the plug in?.
You have to tick the box for install the MPAB-X plug in, or this is not
installed. If there is an older plug in already present, this will still be there.

Yes, I did that.

I've run into this before with CCS. They sometimes will slightly change an installer package but they won't update the release number.

I just uninstalled 5.105, then did a clean install once more. The MPLAB plug-in dates from July 1, 2014. I also tried downloading 5.105 from the CCS website again. There is no difference between that installer and the one I had downloaded last month.

I emailed CCS support to ask for version 3.14 of the MPLAB plug-in but so far haven't received a reply.

I do things a bit differently. When I use CCS with MPLABX, I don't install the CCS plugin manually. I go into the plugins hosted by MPLABX (Tools => Plugins) and select CCS from there and tell MPLABX to activate it.

Aside from having to add the path to the compiler to each of my MPLABX project's settings, this has worked for me for quite a while.

Have you tried doing this out of curiosity?

CCS just sent version 3.14 of the plug-in. It now works.

Also, to others having this problem, please note that the standard download
link from the website, is now for version 3.14. Very Happy
